The article examines the productivity of the use of psychobiographic analysis in the diagnosis and assessment of value and career orientations of managers of the public administration system based on empirical research. Based on the analysis of the data obtained, it is shown that the differences in socio-psychological characteristics inherent in the variants of answers to biographical questions determine the differences in the severity of certain value and career orientations and the formation of a certain value profile. Using the example of the results of the analysis of the relationship of value and career orientations with such facts of the biography of the leaders of the public administration system as the informal position they held at school and the age of the beginning of their managerial career, the specificity of psychobiographic analysis as a diagnostic and evaluation method that allows identifying deep socio-cultural factors of the formation of a particular value and career orientation and based on a value profile of the facts of the biography and make a forecast about the direction in making managerial decisions.
