The article analyzes the results of a study of the ethnic identity of students in the context of educational migration. The methodological basis of the study was the position on the importance of the perceived status of ethnic identity among adolescents. The empirical study was conducted using a battery of techniques that provide the study of various aspects of ethnic identity: ethnoaffiliative tendencies, peculiarities of perception of the stability of the world, ethnic attitudes, ethnic tolerance, etc. The study involved students studying at Russian universities, including Russians living in the territory of the Russian Federation, as well as citizens of the Republic of Moldova, the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic and the DPR. The study of the need for ethnicity showed that affiliation trends prevail among Moldovans compared to Russians and Ukrainians, but at the same time, a significant number of study participants can be attributed to the «hesitant» group. The features of psychological attitudes in intergroup interaction, as well as orientation towards interaction (social distance) of students from different ethnic groups are revealed. In general, it is concluded that the formation of a positive social identity includes a sense of belonging to a certain group, respect for oneself and other members of this group, as well as a positive attitude towards one’s culture and traditions.
